Caladesi Island

So, it has DEFINITELY been a while since I last wrote on this blog and the main reason I am writing on here now is that at the beginning of 2018 I made a bucket list for this year and “writing on this blog more” was on it. So here I am, months after my last post skipping over the May and June and going straight for July. I left for Tampa to visit my brother and my sister-in-law for a few days and instead of doing the usual routine of going to Orlando to Universal Studios we headed out for a dolphin cruise with an open bar on one day and went to a state park on the last day.

If you have gone on a dolphin tour in one place you’ve gone on a dolphin tour everywhere else. It’s all the same, not to say that it takes away from the beautiful creatures that dolphins are, but I’d say that if you go on a tour with an open bar the dolphins are so much more entertaining.

As cool as that was, my favorite part of this trip was going kayaking and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico at Caladesi Island State Park. To get there we took a ferry across the bay to the Island (which took about 15 minutes) through different channels of water surrounded by a maze of land consisting of mangroves.

The water was green and blue which is such a contrast to my local Galveston water and it was mesmerizing, to say the least. The sand is as white as snow and in general, the whole day was amazing, however, I did end up turning four shades darker than when I arrived because I sunbathed too long.

I have found a new love to add to the list of my favorite outdoor activities; kayaking. In the future I want to make time to kayak more locally and whenever I travel. I feel like that could be a goal of mine.

PROTIP: wear more sunscreen!!

With much love,

Ani
